The Lola

The Lola is located at the Southern Dairies in the Old Fourth Ward, across from Ponce City Market. Developed in the 1930s as a dairy and ice cream production/ distribution facility, the campus of buildings is listed on the national register of historic places. Most recently the 5,000 square foot 2 story space had been a Graphics printing facility. Warmth, softness, and a sense of humor… The entry wall greets you with a lacey wood design reminiscent of scalloped Italian lace or as “an architectural Rorschach test.” Of big, loopy smiles? Or maybe the silhouette of beautifully shaped breasts? This co-working space and digital community for women–womxn–offers a mother’s lounge, chat area, sections intended for collaborative work projects, and spaces where ideas can percolate together or in quiet solitude. The main hall’ seating area is arranged for casual conversations, collaborative work sessions, or cafe chatting. Upstairs, the second level features a hushed workspace library and closed-door creative spaces. A mother’s lounge is also on the second floor, along with a, beauty room with changing area, and photo studio. TaC studios provided programming, design direction, interior design, construction documents, permitting, lighting design, pricing/budgeting, custom furniture design, furniture selection, ordering coordination, and install coordination. Custom pieces include: custom banquettes, fabric treatments, cafe millwork, entry wall & podium. Artwork features female Atlanta Artists on rotation.
